*tired*

Some people make me so tired. It's just not worth trying to convey my point of view - even though I don't totally disagree.

Whatever.

Since I need something to do as I try to contact my boyfriend...

A rant about infrastructure here in NSW; I don't like talking about real life politics because basically it boils down to: I think all of the significant political parties suck.

This makes it easy to be lightly involved in discussion because I basically agree with everyone who is political on at least one or two points. It also makes it difficult, because somewhere along the line, I'll probably think your party is a bunch of tools.

Or see point 1.

What makes me really angry about the set up in NSW at the moment is... There is no accountability. I'm not talking about the watch every little step, type thing.

There is no. UGH. Common sense.

An example?

Bathurst. Hospital.

They built operating rooms.

Smaller than the minimum requirement meaning that they are dangerous and useless for surgery. THAT IS ILLEGAL. HOW THE FUCK DID THAT GET THROUGH?

The emergency room?

Ditto. adfklj

They built the hospital outside of phone range.

Well! Those pesky mobile phones are a problem in hospitals due to pacemakers and what not, why would you want them there? Who cares about all those families wanting to know if their loved ones are okay or not!?

They built a communication system for doctors.

It doesn't work. This means that the doctors can't communicate with each other across the hospital. And with no mobiles? no back up network either.

A hospital that can't communicate within or outside effectively.

Glorious.

Telstra is building new towers to get it into range but. ;asdfjkl. A lot of people were seriously arguing that the whole thing be torn down and rebuilt because it is such.

TRASH.

It is. A fricking. Failure. Waste of money, time, space, and the hospital was really needed too.

There are serious arguments to rip this waste of space down and start again. It is that useless.

And it is the same flipping story a hundred times over all across the state.

The hospital system in NSW is the worst in Australia. I don't think it is quite as bad as some parts of America though where you have to ask the ambulance to drive an extra half hour, so you don't get charged an extra $200 I think it was? Fun. Especially when the results of the reason behind that trip was that the person lost feeling and movement in two fingers. Not life threatening no, still quite serious.

Medical treatment is a lot more affordable for people here still and we have a way better safety net.

But that does not mean that I should suck it up and be grateful for what I have.

When it would be /so/ easy for things to improve if people would do their job, realistic changes implemented and resources properly allocated to get it done!

Fricking bureaucracy. Where the whole point is not to get work done, but to make it look like work is being done. - Documentation = BRILLIANT, but documentation is nothing without BACKUP and ACTUALLY FOLLOWING IT YOU MORONS.

Why am I ranting about this today?

I saw in the newspaper the bullshit that is being proposed about the Opera House.

You see, our Opera House (the iconic symbol) isn't actually all that good for Opera. Too small and cramped.

700 million to rip it up and revamp it.

.... do you possibly see why I am so furious about this? The transport system, hospitals and public schools are turning to crap, and the Government wants to spend money - on something that wouldn't work anyway - for Opera.

Because I am /srsly/ doubtful that it's going to make much of a different there anyway. No seriously look at the logistics - the problem was that it was to do both concerts and operas which need different things. The Opera fails because the inner shell is too small.

It will still be too small even after it is revamped. No seriously. /think about it/.

I agree waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more with building another building beside for the Opera.

The cost?

$400 million. Not something I'm terribly fond of, but not a huge fucking waste of time.

Because you see they will spend that $700 million and in five years time it will be all gone.

Opera, is cultural. It is an artform that I think is valuable.

But fuck it if it's at the expense of the state.

I'm sick of bright ideas with nothing to back them up.

"Every kid should learn to use a computer!" - sounds great! But how can the teachers teach them if they don't know?

There is no training for teachers with the computers, there is barely any maintenance at a lot of schools - in a public school it depends on personalities of the teachers involved.

D:

And don't get me started about the trains...

Ugh. I hear people say "wah wah people should use more public transport" but if it doesn't do what they fucking need it to then why should they?!

You know, the trains system is going on about how they've increased efficiency, but um. They sorta kinda totally changed the standard - from being within 3 mins or it's late. To being within 5 mins or it's late.

Don't get me wrong, I think that the trains when they run and go where you want to go are pretty good, and for me as a student they are cheap.

But as an adult, I'd spend less on petrol a good portion of the time. And petrol is a environmentally unfriendly scam. And they don't go where I need them to go a fair bit. =/

Infrastructure improved so much for the Olympics! But then they left it to rot.
