Things that I thought I outgrew in highschool.

Having people bitch about me behind my back when I'm in hearing.

I might be a trifle paranoid, but I don't know who else catches that bus, wears a cloak, and does their hair in a messy bun. o_O; I'm tanned too though not fake/significantly, which is making me think, maybe I'm just being crazy.... since they also mentioned that the person was "so orange" But the stupid bitch was right behind me bitching about how "gross this chick that catches the bus is".

- today I had my hair under a hat, and was wearing a black coat with hood which I don't normally do, which is why I think she didn't recognise me if she was talking about me.

Or maybe she did. Her type as far as I'm aware are completely capable of doing that sort of shit even if they know the person is right there as part of some "subtle" you will be assimilated message.

Email'

Care2 has a new email interface, of which my thoughts have fluctuated WILDLY the past couple of days.

The awesome: 5000 MB. :D previously a hundred, previously 6.

The annoying: It took a while to get the email from the old system to the new one.

The I nearly packed everything up and headed of to gmail: I couldn't read my email for ages because some of my FF extensions were incompatible. Disabling for care2 fixed the problem but ARGH. I could see the new emails! (before I could see the old ones actually. D: ) I could click and they'd be marked as read. Only. I hadn't actually read them! D: it would only say that I hadn't selected a message and I'm just kajldfk I'M TRYING.

The irritating: Sometimes I have a small bug, in which it sucks up resources (much like youtube) which makes my browser unhappy when I have other things open and in turn, me unhappy.

This is probably because it now does this live thing much like gmail, where it monitors email, though it's better than gmail in that I can see the number of unread messages displayed in the tab, where as gmail doesn't do that...

This moar irritating: it insists on opening everything in frames. If it would remember how I like my frames it would be better but as it is, it feels overly friendly. ;>.>

ETA: Whee no more frames they finally went bai bai.

The good: they fixed some of the display problems in the old one, and now have scroll bars added for the sidebar which means all of my folders will display properly.

The v.good: Care2 tech support though it is hard to find seem pretty nice.

The I LOVE YOU: EMAIL SEARCH FEATURE. I never realised how much I wanted this for my fandom account until I did. ♥ I can finally hunt down all those CSIRO emails and catch up on science news and experiments! ♥ (Wut? SCIENCE IS TOTTLY A FANDOM).

Conclusion: Hey I can do care about the environment and surf my email at the same time! =P

It's still weird seeing how much care2 has changed over the years though, - my current care2 account I've had since 1999, but I had one the year before that as well before switching.

I don't use the social networking feature at /all/ but it's clearly become a significant part of the website. Not really any fandom stuff on there though, which is why it never caught my interest.

(as for life, BLAH.)

...

I counted 31 spider webs on the bus. In the first ten mins when it was going really slow. Where all the trees go up to the powerlines... so they were mostly on that.

I might of seen more after, but it was going too quick to confirm.

Another five on the way home.

Ya ha!

I am successfully getting Ren to watch Eyeshield 21 :D

Admittedly I sold it to her as an example of American propaganda towards a Japanese audience (It was sponsored by the NFL to help promote american football in Japan) and she's saying things like "Omg it really is propaganda", "so bad it's good", "what.", "and it's so stupid but you just want to know more", and "They're really romanticising it aren't they??" and "I need something to do because I'm bored", and I think her favourite character is so far Hiruma! which is sort of worrisome.

But she keeps hitting next!

This is what we call work in progress.

Consider this another step in the "Qem is a bad influence" saga.

*tired*

Some people make me so tired. It's just not worth trying to convey my point of view - even though I don't totally disagree.

Whatever.

Since I need something to do as I try to contact my boyfriend...

A rant about infrastructure here in NSW; I don't like talking about real life politics because basically it boils down to: I think all of the significant political parties suck.

This makes it easy to be lightly involved in discussion because I basically agree with everyone who is political on at least one or two points. It also makes it difficult, because somewhere along the line, I'll probably think your party is a bunch of tools.

Or see point 1.

What makes me really angry about the set up in NSW at the moment is... There is no accountability. I'm not talking about the watch every little step, type thing.

There is no. UGH. Common sense.

An example?

Bathurst. Hospital.
Some sorta political ranting about the system in nsw )

Do you know what I wish I did today?

Declare some spam posts so that people can post misc pretty while their trying to avoid LJ.

I'm staying off it until I come back from Grandma's then I figure it's well and truly over.

[info]hidden_treasure is back up and it's free for all for the rest of this month.

There is an asylum meme going on at [info]das_dingsi's journal. :D

Mar. 20th, 2008

Somehow I'm not surprised.

You are an easily repelled teenager
The mosquito device was made for the likes of you. You are probably begging to make the noise stop!

The highest pitched ultrasonic mosquito ringtone that I can hear is 18.8kHz
Find out which ultrasonic ringtones you can hear!

Couldn't hear anything at the three tones above it though, other than a clicking sound.

Weird leg pain.

=/

So yesterday; I wanted to get to uni at ten, and for some reason I thought I needed to catch the bus at ten.

Quarter to nine I go... no. And I don't even have my shoes on... D:

And this bus now only comes once an hour... On the hour.

In my defence, I odn't have actual class until 5 on Tuesday's and it was for my groupwork of which it was taken for granted we wouldn't all be able to get there at that time.

It takes me about 20-30mins to walk to the bus stop... Normally.

SO! Praying and running!

Luckily! I catch my bus.

But during the day, it becomes apparent that I've pulled a muscle because my leg hurts more and more, to the point where I can't walk properly. At all.

in which I go into boring tldr detail about my leg )

LiveJournal thoughts

It worries me far more that LiveJournal eliminated fandom and fanfiction from the popular interest listing than the fact that it eliminated basic accounts. =/

I take advertisement for granted. I take information going places I don't want it too - somewhat for granted - I hate it and I'll make an effort to avoid sites that do it but it's not an idealistic thou shall not pass situation for me.

However, I think it is fucking stupid that they didn't listen to at least three members of their advisory team for the second, and that they're trying to turn it into myspace for the first.

*sigh* Thinking about maybe starting a meme community - for posting quizzes you created, and a place for hosting love memes, rate my writing, etc etc etc. Those usually spread on LJ, and well. It gives people a place to start on something simple and little to participate in.

Plus the love memes and so forth are good for building community. *nods*

The dork side leads to madness and should be shunned.
Always trust in the geek.
Roxy: Geekness is the path to dorkness you qem. Beware it, you should
10:01 PM me: With great geekiness comes great responsibility. Use it well, I should.

french blah

The results of an experiment from the weekend. Posting to archive.

I'm not a good person to ask for accuracy... I can translate from french to english okay but not so well the other way around, which is a sure way of saying mada mada dane.

That is I can read french novels, but I don't always understand totally everything that is going on... But then again the stories I tend to read in french are... Romance, and therefore I'm more interested in the unintentional comedic aspects than plot specific details. (I swear - cheap French romance novels are a goldmine!#)

And as for writing in French; well it took me well over an hour when I was trying to answer support in french on the one problem - not with composing my answer in english that was easy, but the translating to French was a bitch and a half. (I luvs the firefox spell checker though) That was a while ago though (twas approved, though I was criticised for something that I got of the french vox site... heh.).

But French is something I'm interested in improving in a round about when I have time kind of way.

I'm not entirely sure why, since I uh am clearly not learning it to converse with my family since there are none that I'd care to talk to in french at the moment and I'm more interested in reading and writing it than talking, which is where it would be useful at the moment [oddly enough I'm opposite with Japanese, it would be more useful at the moment to read and write that but I'm more interested in conversing].

(also Australian accents are shit for pronouncing french - our voices are too flat. My throat doe snot make the sounds in my head. =/)

So when someone offered me a translation opportunity that is needed and can focus on something interesting... I decided to check it out.

I'm not really comfortable with this; I feel too awkward with the translation, but the only way to improve would be to force myself to keep translating this kind of stuff; I can't just whirl it under the rug, I have to know the details and this is a real opportunity for that.

Hôtel de Kanazawa , le 11/1/97

Chère ethel ,

"Dormir un peu" : tu parles !
Ma "petite sieste" a duré jusqu'à minuit. Je me suis réveillé hagard.

===============================================================================================

Kwanazawa hotel, the 11th of January 97

Dear Ethel,
"A litte sleep" you say!
My "little siesta" lasted until midnight. I woke up tired. What a waste of time!

I dressed plainly* and went out for a walk; the foolish nights of Kanazawa, they are quite something.
With not a
cat in the streets, the silence was quite profound.
You could believe that everyone is dead.
With the metres of snow reinforcing that impression.
I walked to the edge of the sea, the night is so black that I can not see water. Far off, you can see the lights of boats sailing towards Vladivostok : an idea I find distressing. It is crazy, the power of a word; where I was, you could see nothing.

I'm missing something, but I don't know what.

*I remember hearing not that long ago that dressing in un mur fashion, could refer to slang - a way of saying wall flower; But I'm not really quite sure of how to translate it.

I think that this part is saying basically, they got dressed and went out, probably in a simple boring manner.

Qem has a dangerous sense of humour

Today was horrible.

So I went to look at music instead since people have been bugging me about it.

...

Dear world;
This is why I shouldn't pick my wedding music.

(Am partially joking)

Samples provided for illustrative purposes (since otherwise I suspect the majority will have no idea what I'm talking about), delete after 24 hours yadda yadda. That's if I can get it uploaded to begin with. ~.~;

Bwhahahahahhahahaha )
This becomes less and less of a joke the more I listen to the music in question.

At least my darling love has veto power? *ponders what will happen after the list is emailed to tbf*

... and that would by why I hate going to the doctors.

Horrible day.
Two hours in the waiting room.
Told to go try over the counter cough medicine.

~.~; I'm currently coughing up liquids here people, and I cough all year round.

Also I didn't lock the car when I was inside. D:

Bwhahahahah

If anyone says only in Japan remind me to point this out.

Stolenz off of Machv on lj.
THERE IS A EDWARD SCISSORHANDS BALLET STARTING IN MAY!!!

Quote
Once upon a time, there was a boy who had scissors instead of hands. His name… was Edward.

In 1990, film director Tim Burton created a character for Johnny Depp that touched the hearts of millions. Now, through the magic of Matthew Bourne, Edward Scissorhands is back to make your spirits soar.

This enchanting, uplifting, record-breaking stage adaptation of the classic motion picture swept UK and US audiences off their feet, turning a film favourite into a theatrical triumph.

Following in the footsteps of his smash-hit Swan Lake, multi-award winning director/choreographer Matthew Bourne uses music, movement and stage magic to tell the story of a boy left alone and unfinished by the eccentric inventor who created him.

Transforming tired gardens into triumphs of topiary, treating desperate housewives to haircuts with a difference, and shaping spectacular ice sculptures out of snowstorms, Edward quickly becomes the local hero. But not everyone can see past the scars and scissors to see the beauty and innocence within…

A magical fairytale. A moving love story. A major stage spectacular for the whole family. Edward Scissorhands comes to life in May 2008.
